Secretary to Superintendent/School Board
Dr. Harrell is a Uvalde High School Graduate. His education career consists of a bachelor’s degree from UT Austin, a MEd in School Administration from Sul Ross State University and a Doctorate degree from UT San Antonio. Dr. Harrell’s tenure at Uvalde C.I.S.D. began in 1992 when he started his career as a Special Education Teacher. Dr. Harrell has held various leadership positions in Uvalde C.I.S.D., including Director of New Hope/Excel Academy, Assistant Principal at Uvalde High School, Principal at Uvalde High School, Director of Student Services and Deputy Superintendent. The Board of Trustees gave Dr. Harrell their full support voting unanimously for his appointment.
Dr. Harrell shared, “I am ecstatic and honored to have been named as the Superintendent and look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with the school board, staff, students, parents and the community. As a native Uvaldean I want the very best for the children of this community and the people who live here. I look forward to honoring the rich traditions that have formed the foundations of Uvalde CISD and am committed to providing all students with an engaging and rich educational experience. These experiences will enable them to make significant contributions to an ever-changing global society.”
