The process is simple. Attend a Volunteer Training session presented by a qualified Volunteer Trainer at the Central Office. Read the handbookand then complete and sign the following required forms:
Uvalde CISD Parent Involvement Program
Information for background check
DPS Computerized Criminal History Verification
The above 4 forms can be found in the required forms section of this handbook. First, attend a parent volunteer orientation training and read the handbook. Next, complete and sign all forms in ink and submit them to the Volunteer Trainer. The district will offer orientation once or twice every month. The dates and times of district orientation training can be obtained in the following places: the Uvalde CISD web page, the campus Principal, or by calling the Uvalde Central Office or the Parent Liaison. Check with your school Principal to receive more information.
Most situations require the volunteer to be at least 18 years of age. There are many opportunities for family members, business persons, community members, students and retirees to volunteer in the district. A volunteer need not be a parent of a student enrolled in the School District.
ALL volunteers must attend the Volunteer Training at Uvalde CISD Central Office and complete and submit the required documents provided by the Volunteer Trainer. By completing these documents you acknowledge and agree to the Volunteer Guidelines, obligations, and restrictions. A volunteer who is not in compliance may lose the privilege to volunteer. The completed Volunteer Information Release will be sent to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Reports from background checks are usable with the School District on a need to know basis only, as per federal law. If the report shows arrests or convictions that may disqualify the prospective volunteer, it will be discussed with the prospective volunteer by a District Administrator, however not otherwise shared with anyone. If cleared, the volunteer is approved for Uvalde CISD service for the current school year. Please be aware clearance and training must be obtained each school year. The Human Resources Department will maintain a file for all volunteers.
As the 2023-2024 School Year kicks off, so does the need for volunteers. Volunteers are a valued asset to our district. Individuals wishing to volunteer on campuses and with student organizations must attend Volunteer Training and complete a background check. Volunteer Training will take place at the Central Office located at 1000 N. Getty St. For more information call Central Office by phone at 830-278-6655. Volunteers are asked to sign up for a training session by completing the Volunteer Training Sign-Up Form.
