Mrs. Josefina Castillo

Josefina Castillo was born in Eagle Pass, Texas,  has lived in Uvalde since the third grade, and is a graduate of Uvalde High School. Mrs. Castillo attended Southwest Texas Junior College before transferring to Southwest Texas State University (Texas State University) in San Marcos, Texas where she graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in Earth Science.  She later obtained her Master’s degree in adult education and training from the University of Phoenix. She believes in helping students become lifelong learners and in providing a safe environment where students are free to express their thoughts and ideas through writing. She sees her mission as one of providing an environment of comfort where students feel free to express themselves without fear of being judged or discouraged.  Mrs. Castillo has taught for 18 years at Uvalde CISD.
