Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! I am Elias Portillo, the counselor at Uvalde Early College High School. This will be my first year at Early College. I graduated with my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Angelo State University in 2009 and completed my School Counseling Certification in 2012 at Angelo State University. I completed my year-long internship during the 2012-2013 school year at Tafolla Middle School in San Antonio, TX. I also have a background in Physical Education and Coaching. I enjoyed being a Physical Education Teacher and coach, however, I am very excited of having the opportunity to be a school counselor. This will be my fourth year, I am excited to grow with experiences with the help of our leadership here at UHS. I am very happy to work with the students and get to know them better as we began our first year of Early College. Uvalde Early College is a great place to be!
As a school counselor, it is my belief that all students can learn and my goal to meet the developmental needs of students to help reduce any barriers to learning. I will be offering many counseling services this year including monthly classroom lessons, small groups, and individual counseling.
I am here to be a resource and support for all Uvalde Early College students. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at info below.
