Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Irma Garcia

My name is Irma Linda Garcia I was born on December 11, 1973, In San Antonio, Texas. I am the second oldest of 4 children.  Fun fact. If I had been born one day later my grandmother demanded that I'd be named "Guadalupe" after our Virgin De Guadalupe because Dec. 12 was the Virgin's birthday.  I would have been a "Lupita" I very much prefer "Irma Linda" Irma was my aunt's name on my mother's side.  She passed away in a fire when she was only 12 yrs. old and Linda was my grandmother's name.  These two women are the most courageous women and mean the world to my mother, so it is an honor to carry their name.
We lived a short time in San Antonio but later moved to Crystal City where I attended elementary school there till I was in the 5th grade.  My father was an educator/ football coach/ Administrator upon moving to Uvalde.  He was offered the 6th-grade principal position at Benson Elementary.  It goes without saying that it was not easy having your dad as your principal. I made some life long friends that year. Upon graduation, I worked at Ranger Video store, and Country Cottage Day Care.
I went on to graduate from Uvalde High School in 1992 and attended SWTJC in Uvalde for one year when I transferred to Sul Ross University located here in Uvalde and received my Bachelor's degree in education.  That same year I married my high school sweetheart in June of 1997.  I actually interviewed for my first teaching job while on my honeymoon in Las Vegas.  I was hired as a first-grade teacher for La Pryor Elementary for the 1997-98 school year.  The following year I was expecting my first child and took one year off.  I returned to work as a second-grade teacher for the 1999-2000 school year at Robb Elementary.  Robb has been my home ever since.  I am currently teaching 4th-grade Co-teach with Eva Mireles teaching English Language Arts/ Social Studies.
I have been married to my amazing husband Joe Garcia for 21 years and we have 4 children. Cristian 20, Jose Alejandro 16, Lyliana 13, and our baby Alysandra 9. Being a wife, mother and teacher have been my greatest accomplishments.
