Uvalde CISD Parent/Guardian by completing the UCISD bus registration you are agreeing to the following guidelines and regulations for all bus riders.

• Students must be waiting at the bus stop 5 minutes before designated pick up time.
• Parents must be at bus stop 5 minutes before drop off times for Pre K and K students.
• All changes to transportation must be reported to the Transportation Department 48 hours(2 days) prior to when the change is needed.
• Changes to transportation will NOT be done on the same day they are requested.
• Elementary students may be required to walk up to a quarter mile. Secondary students may be required to walk up to half a mile as per district procedures.

In order to insure safe, timely, and efficient school transportation, students must:

• Follow the driver’s directions at all times.
• Enter and leave the bus in an orderly manner at the designated stop.
• Keep feet, books, instrument cases, and other objects out of the aisle.
• Do not deface the bus or its equipment.
• Do not put head, hands, arms, or legs out of the window, or throw objects within or out of the bus.
• Do not possess any weapons, tobacco or use any form of tobacco on the bus.
• Do not eat or drink on the bus (except water)
• Observe all usual classroom rules.
• Be seated while the bus is moving.
• Fasten seat belts, if available
• Wait for driver’s signal upon leaving the bus before crossing in front of the bus.

SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION CRITERIA AND GUIDELINES

School transportation will be provided in accordance with State funding requirements and Board Policy.
State criteria provides transportation funding for students whose home of record is 2 miles or more from their designated school, these students will be provided transportation upon request in accordance with the guidelines set below. School transportation is a privilege. The school bus is an extension of the classroom and
appropriate student behavior is expected. Failure to follow these transportation guidelines and the student’s bus rules will result in the loss of the transportation privilege.

TRANSPORTATION GUIDELINES:

1. School buses will only travel on State maintained roads.
2. Bus Registration. Students must register to ride a school bus. Registration can be accomplished at the school or at the transportation office. The student needs to register only once. If a student was registered the previous school year, there is no need to register again.
3. Bus Route Information. Bus information is available by calling 830-333-7003
4. Maximum number of students on a bus. Transportation will make every effort to keep the student bus load below a maximum of 2.7 students per seat for elementary students (68) and 2.3 students per seat for MS and HS students (58)
5. Items carried on the bus by students. Any items carried on board a school bus must not be larger than what a student may place on his/her lap safely.
6. Maximum walking distance to a bus stop. Walking distance to a bus stop is set at .2 of a mile for elementary students and .35 of a mile for MS and HS students. Bus stops are designated by the transportation department and are usually at street corners.
7. Bus stop times. Bus Drivers make every possible effort to be at the bus stop at the designated time. However, weather, traffic, and mechanical problems may cause delays; if a bus is more than ten minutes late, call 830-333-7003 to report the delay.
8. Walking distance to a bus stop. Bus stops may be up to .35 of a mile from the student’s home, and students are expected to be at the bus stop at least 5 minutes before the designated stop time for the bus stop. If a driver has to wait for a student, the bus driver is required to make a bus referral. It is the parent’s responsibility to insure the student’s safety while walking to the bus stop and at the bus stop.
9. Designated bus stops. State transportation procedures allow for home to school and school to home transportation only (home of record). Additionally, a parent may designate the student’s grandparent or a certified day care facility as the student’s place of pick-up and drop-off. Pick-up and drop-off locations must be set and cannot change from day to day. Fluctuating school transportation schedules are confusing to everyone and compromise student safety.
10. Bus pass. Students must ride the school bus designated for their home transportation address and get on and off the school bus at their designated bus stop. If a student needs to ride a different bus or get on or off at a different bus stop, the student or parent must request a bus pass from a school administrator. The bus pass signed by the school administrator must be given to the bus driver at boarding.
11. Maximum length of bus ride to school and home. Transportation will make every attempt to keep the bus ride time to and from school to no more than one hour and fifteen minutes.
12. Missing a school bus at bus stop. If a student misses a school bus, it is the responsibility of the parent to insure the student gets to school.
13. Return a student to school because parent is not at bus stop to receive. If an authorized person is not at the bus stop to receive a PK or K student, the student will be returned to school. If a student is returned to school, it is the parent’s responsibility to pick-up the student prior to school closing time.

El transporte escolar se proporcionará de acuerdo con las necesidades de financiación del
Estado y de la Política del Consejo. Los criterios del Estado proveen fondos para el
transporte para los estudiantes cuyo domicilio registrado se encuentra a 2 millas o más de su
escuela designada, a estos estudiantes les será proporcionado transporte a petición, de
acuerdo con las directrices establecidas a continuación.
El transporte escolar es un privilegio. El autobús escolar es una extensión del salón de
clase y se espera que la conducta del estudiante sea apropiada. Si no se siguen estas pautas
de transporte y las reglas para el estudiante en el autobús, resultará en la pérdida del
privilegio del transporte.
 

GUIAS DEL TRANSPORTE:

1. Los autobuses escolares solo viajarán en caminos mantenidos por el Estado.
2. Registro para el Autobús. Los estudiantes deben registrarse para viajar en un autobús escolar. El registro puede realizarse en la escuela o en la oficina de transporte. El estudiante necesita registrarse una sola vez. Si un estudiante se registró el año escolar anterior, no hay necesidad de registrarse de nuevo.

4. Número máximo de alumnos en un autobús. Transportación hará todo lo posible por mantener la carga del autobús escolar por debajo de un máximo de 2.7 alumnos por asiento para los estudiantes de primaria (68) y 2.3 alumnos por asiento para los estudiantes de secundaria y preparatoria (58)
5. Artículos llevados en el autobús por los estudiantes. Cualquier artículo llevado a bordo de un autobús de la escuela no debe ser más grande de lo que un estudiante puede colocar de forma segura en su regazo.
6. Máxima distancia a pie de una parada de Autobús. Se ha establecido una distancia a caminar hacia una parada de autobús de 0.2 de milla para los estudiantes de primaria y 0.35 de milla para los estudiantes de secundaria y preparatoria. Las paradas de autobús están designadas por el departamento de transporte y por lo general se encuentra en esquinas.
7. Tiempos de las paradas del Autobús. Los conductores de autobuses hacen todo lo posible para estar en la parada de autobús a la hora designada. Sin embargo, tiempo, tráfico, y problemas mecánicos pueden causar retrasos; si un autobús está más de diez minutos tarde, llame al 830-333-7003 para informar del retraso.
8. Distancia a pie de una parada de Autobús. Las paradas de autobús pueden estar a 0.35 de milla de la casa del estudiante, y se espera que los estudiantes estén en la parada del autobús por lo menos 5 minutos antes de la hora designada para la parada del autobús. Si un conductor tiene que esperar a un estudiante, se requiere que el conductor del autobús le haga una nota de advertencia o remisión para no incurrir de nuevo en esta situación. Es responsabilidad de los padres el garantizar la seguridad de los estudiantes mientras se dirijan a la parada de autobús y estando en la parada de autobús.
9. Parada de Autobús Designada Procedimientos del transporte Estatal permiten la transportación solamente de la casa a la escuela y de la escuela a la casa (domicilio registrado). Además, un padre puede designar la casa del abuelo del estudiante o una guardería certificada como el lugar para recoger y dejar al estudiante. Los lugares para recoger y dejar quedan establecidos y no se pueden cambiarse de un día para otro. Los horarios del transporte escolar fluctuantes son confusos para todos y ponen en riesgo la seguridad del estudiante.
10. Pase de Autobús. Los estudiantes deben viajar en el autobús escolar designado por su dirección de casa registrada y subir y bajar del autobús en su parada de autobús designada. Si un estudiante tiene que viajar en un autobús diferente o subir o bajar en una parada de autobús diferente, el estudiante o el padre deben solicitar un pase de autobús a un administrador de la escuela. El pase de autobús firmado por el administrador de la escuela debe entregarse al conductor del autobús al momento de abordarlo.
11. Longitud Máxima del trayecto del Autobús hacia la escuela y casa. Transportación hará todo lo posible por mantener el tiempo de viaje en autobús hacia y desde la escuela a no más de una hora y quince minutos.
12. Perder el autobús escolar en la parada del autobús.  Si un estudiante pierde el autobús escolar, es responsabilidad de los padres asegurarse que el estudiante llegue a la escuela.
13. Regresar un estudiante a la escuela por que el padre o madre no estaban en la parada del autobús para recibirlo. Si una persona autorizada no está en la parada de autobús para recibir un estudiante de Pre - Kínder o Kínder, el estudiante será regresado a la escuela. Si un estudiante es devuelto a la escuela, es responsabilidad de los padres recoger al estudiante antes de la hora de cierre de la escuela.
