Uvalde CISD offers a number of medical insurance plans as well as dental, vision, and supplemental insurance plans. Benefits are available for all full-time and part time employees.
As an employee of Uvalde CISD, you are eligible for benefits on the 1st day of the month following your start date. As an employee of UCISD, you can elect Medical Coverage to begin on your first day of employment, but the premium will not be prorated.
You have 30 days to elect your benefits from your date of hire. If you do not elect benefits within this period, you will not be eligible to enroll in benefits until the following Open Enrollment Period unless you have a Qualifying event. (Examples of qualifying events include birth, death, marriage, divorce, adoption, and loss/gain of other coverage.) Documentation must be provided for life events and all changes must be made within 30 calendar days of the event.
Open Enrollment for the Medical plan is held mid-July through mid-August, with an effective date of September 1.
The Uvalde CISD Optional Benefit plan year begins on November 1 and ends on October 31 of each year. Open Enrollment for Optional Benefits is held on your campus each year during the month of August and September. All benefits elected during the annual Open Enrollment period for all Optional plans are effective November 1.
