House Bill 1481 - New Texas Cell Phone Law
MARIO RODRIGUEZ

As we prepare for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year, we want to share essential information about House Bill 1481 (HB 1481) and how Uvalde CISD plans to comply with this new state requirement. Our goal is to ensure that the implementation of these guidelines reflects our commitment to student safety and academic focus.

UCISD HB 1481 Community Guidelines

Prohibited Use

  • Personal communication devices are not allowed in any area on campus during the school day, including non-academic times and spaces such as locker rooms, cafeterias, hallways, and restrooms. The school day is defined as the period from when students arrive on campus until the last bell.

Electronic Communication

  • Students are forbidden from using personal or school-issued devices for personal communication. This includes texting, direct messaging, or participating in online chats and social media.

Away For The Day

  • All personal devices must be turned off, stored out of sight, and not carried on the person during the school day.

UCISD Family Support

  • Discuss HB 1481: Talk to your children about the importance of House Bill 1481 and how it impacts their daily routine.

  • Promote Academic Focus: Encourage your children to concentrate on their studies and minimize distractions.

  • Contacting Students: If you need to reach your child during the school day, please call the campus front office.

We appreciate your cooperation and partnership as we implement these state-mandated changes. Our primary aim is to create a secure and focused learning environment for all students and staff.
