November 2016 Scholar

Uvalde C.I.S.D. has partnered with IBC Bank and KVOU Radio to promote and encourage scholastic excellence among students. Students enter and esssay-writing contest with the topix "Why I Should be the Scholar of the Month." Teachers choose one composition to represent their classroom. Compositions are turned into a campus leadership team, which selected one winner from the tenth and ninth grade to represent the grade level. The Scholar of the Month recognition took place on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Uvalde High School to recognize tenth grade student Conner McDonald and ninth grade student Delicia Campos.

Connor’s winning essay included the following statements; “I’m extremely dedicated to my
studies and academics, and put 100% effort into the work I do. I try my hardest to be the best
student I can make myself, and I take the quality of the work I do seriously. Everything I do and
turn in, I want my teachers to believe is the best I could have done. That’s the rule I try to live
by, and that’s what I plan to continue to live by.” Pictured in the photo: (left to right) Steven

Delicia’s winning essay included the following statements; “My main motivation is to be
successful for myself and for my family and also to do well in high school, so I can pursue a
successful college degree. With all the support I get from family and my teachers I persevere

scholar.” Pictured in the photo: (left to right) Steven Garcia (KVOU), Clarie Trevino (IBC),
