Title:Executive Director of Communications and Marketing
Location:Central Offics
Description:Promote positive public relations between the school district and community. Prepare and provide information to the public about activities, goals, and policies of the school district and distribute pertinent district information to employees. Responsible for the planning direction, development and implementation of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District Education Foundation.
Requirements:Education/Certification: 
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university 
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills: 
  • Demonstrate skills in writing, editing, and public speaking
  • Thorough knowledge of medial relations and public relation functions. 
  • Excellent computer skills; ability to design and produce district publications. 
  • Proven history of meeting or exceeding fundraising goals. 
  • Development of marketing strategies for school district. 
  • Available to work frequent prolonged and irregular hours. 
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures and interpret data. 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Direct and manage the district's public information activities. 
  • Direct and manage the district's Education Foundation. 
  • Serve as the information liaison between the school system and community. 
  • Prepare press releases and publish articles and photos in local media and other publications. 
  • Assist school personnel to publicize and promote any performances, exhibitions, displays, or special programs sponsored by the schools. 
  • Design, prepare and edit district publications including newsletters, recruitment brochures, programs for special events and other publications. 
  • Oversee the administrative tasks required to carry out the Foundation's mission and objectives. 
  • Develop & coordinate positive areas in marketing aspects of school district. 
  • Develop & enhance the image of the school district and its students. 
  • Marketing of school district accomplishments and student achievements. 
  • Develop contracts with outside organizations to promote our foundation and school district image. 
  • Regular attendance and punctuality at at work are essential functions of the job. 
  • Provide direction and guidance to all functional areas of Auxiliary Services. 
  • Develop and implement with the approval of the Superintendent of Schools and the collaboration of the Assistant Superintendents, the type of organization needed to accomplish the district's objectives and future planning of district goals. 
  • Act as liaison with state and local agencies on a variety of facilities-related issues, and direct the preparation of data for a variety of federal, state and district reports. 
  • Advise administration about inclement weather conditions that my result in the closing of schools or road hazards. 
  • Help organize and conduct training programs to promote a safe work environment. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
Experience: 
  • Three years in journalism or communications in the public school system
