End of the Year Message

Dear UCISD Team,

As  I  reflect  on  this  “amazing”  school  year  I  find  myself  in  awe  of  the  work  that  has been done by our students, teachers, administrators, and staff this year.  It is hard to believe how quickly the time has gone by.  On June 10, 2013, I came on board and one of the first tasks at hand was the TRE. We came together as a unified team and were able to successfully pass the TRE.   Through the TRE the district was able to afford raises for employees, make some much needed technology enhancements and made some improvements to facilities. With the continuation of the TRE funds we will be afforded opportunities to make progress in areas that will positively impact our district.

During my first year as superintendent I quickly learned of the wonderful people in the community and district.  I consider myself very fortunate and blessed to work alongside of some “amazing” individuals. One of the greatest strengths of the district are the individuals it serves and work here; be it the students, employees, board members, and community.   As most are preparing to start their summer break, I want you to remember the progress and many accomplishments we have made this year. We have embarked on our strategic planning process, held numerous staff development trainings; including two very successful Super Saturdays. Students achieved success in academic areas, fine arts and athletics. At UCISD, we have a lot to be proud of!  The work that was done this year was amazing!

I  know  we  all  realize  we  still  have  work  that  needs  to  be  done.  I  know  that  UCISD
will not rest until we are the best! With increased student achievement for all students as our highest priority, we will continue to work diligently to make a difference in the lives of all of our students. Our students are amazing and as a united staff we will continue to push towards excellence and achieve even better results in the 2014-‐2015 school year.

Administrators and Central Office staff along with campus staff will immediately begin to transition into deeper implementation of more rigorous teaching and improved instructional strategies that  motivate students  to  learn  while  keeping them fully engaged.  All professional development days will be dedicated to intense learning of best strategies for all staff.  We truly believe that all of students have the potential to become productive citizens. We will demonstrate our commitment to our students by ensuring that every student receives an education that will prepare many professional learning opportunities this summer. Attached you will find a list and calendar of all the learning opportunities that will be provided. I encourage you to please enroll in a session to prepare for the 2014-‐2015 school year.

Please continue to be encouraged by our efforts and success, because UCISD is truly “amazing”. I ask you to take a few minutes to watch this video ( and see the amazing things happening at UCISD this year! I sincerely thank you for an “amazing” school year. YOU truly are “AMAZING”! I look forward to seeing you around in the summer and working with you in the 2014-‐2015 school year.
