2014-2015 Welcome Back to School Letter

Dear Uvalde CISD Team,

It is hard to believe that our summer is coming to an end. It has been a busy summer as we wrapped up one school year we quickly began planning and preparing for the 2014-2015 school year. Besides the normal summer cleaning projects we also worked on many projects across the district. There were many individuals that worked all summer long to help us prepare for the new school year. We are very appreciative of our custodians and maintenance crew that put in many hours to get ready for the new year.

There are many wonderful things that are coming to Uvalde CISD for the 2014-2015 school year. To start off the year Dalton will be implementing their new Dual Language Program. Anthon and Dalton both received landscaping enhancements. However, the biggest physical change over the summer is at the Honey Bowl with a new track, lights, scoreboard and the field house renovations that are in progress. It will be a great addition for our students and fans. We also continued with our technology upgrades, Morales Junior High and Uvalde High School received a brand new computer lab that will be used for our STEM program and if you haven’t heard our 8th -12th grade students will be receiving new iPads this school year. In addition Uvalde High School is having new flooring installed. We are very proud of our brand new fleet of school buses. It is great to see these shiny new buses ready to pick up our students on the first day of school.

Uvalde CISD is appreciative of our employees and we are very pleased to be able to give raises to employees and an additional $28 dollars toward insurance contribution. This brings the total for insurance contribution to $299. Plus employees will be given additional local days of leave with the benefit of being paid for local days not used.

The first day back for 187 day employees is Monday, August 18, 2014. Please report to your campus on August 18th at 8:00 am for detailed information for the week of August 18th-22nd. I look forward to seeing you at convocation at Uvalde High School for breakfast at 7:00 am and convocation at the John H. Harrell Auditorium at 8:30 am. We are very excited to bring you a dynamic and energetic convocation experience. Where we will beat to the sound of one drum!!! I want to personally invite you to a “Back to School” lunch sponsored by the wonderful Cactus Jack Foundation immediately following convocation at the Fairplex.

In closing, I am committed to being “all in” for our students and I hope that you are as well. I look forward to seeing all of you on August 22nd and working alongside you this year. I thank you for your continued dedication and service to our entire school community.

Sincerely,

Jeanette Ball, Ph.D.
